Giving Flower Remedies to Birds

DILUTING AND USING FLOWER ESSENCES FOR BIRDS

Flower essences are not homeopathic in their preparation. Flower remedies are somewhat similar to homeopathics because they have a vibrational nature and are dilute. However, unlike homeopathically prepared medicines, their actions have not been determined by provings and they are not potentized. All the plants used in the making of the flower remedies were selected from species that were nontoxic in their natural states. Flower remedies are considered an 'energy' medicine, and their primary action is on the "emotional" sphere of the body.

PREPARING THE REMEDY
Always dilute the remedies before giving them to birds. To combine the remedies put 2 drops of each chosen Flower Remedy into a 1-ounce dropper bottle of spring water. Rescue Remedy is used at double the dose of the other flowers — 4 drops into the dilution bottle. It can be preserved by adding 1 teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar or food grade vegetable glycerin to the dilution. If you don’t add a preservative keep it refrigerated and avoid touching the dropper.

DOSE
For chronic problems give 4 drops, 4 times daily. During emergency first aid, 4 drops can be given every hour to every few minutes.

GIVING THE REMEDY
You can place the drops directly in the bird’s mouth, or on a treat. Another method would be to add the drops to the pet’s food or water bowl or rub it on the cere (upper beak) and feet. For birds that are difficult to handle it can be sprayed on to the upper beak & feet 4 times daily (add 30 drops of your dilution to a spray bottle containing 8 oz. of water).

Flower Remedies, are virtually non-toxic and not habit forming and can be safely used to enhance or compliment any other holistic or conventional veterinary treatment.
